Thousands hit pavement for annual ‘Run for the Cure’

Rockaway Townsquare went “Mission Pink” Saturday as part of a national engagement between mall owners Simon Properties and Susan G. Komen For the Cure to support the fight against breast cancer.

Going into their fourth year, Windset Farms will again be actively present with a company team at the CIBC Run for the Cure, held on Sunday, October 4th.

Join us for the highly successful Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure taking place this Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion.

Ning said the event was a great way to create awareness on breast cancer and to remind women to conduct self breast examination.

With approximately one in nine Canadian women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes, the need to continue raising funds for new research in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care is considered vitally important.

The 49-year-old said she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2010 and had to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

The Run brings together families, friends, neighbours and colleagues to honour and inspire all those who have been affected by breast cancer.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., with the run starting at 10 a.m. In 2014, just over $600,000 was raised at the London run, and officials are hoping to better that total this year. In order to participate you must register online or prior to the event at Victoria Park.
