Thousands of dogs compete in Westminster Dog Show
The sporting, working and terrier group dogs will show Tuesday evening, preceding Westminster’s Best In Show to cap the competition.

Seven breeds – the Bergamasco, Lagotto Romagnolo, Berger Picard, Miniature American Shepherd, Boerboel, Spanish Water Dog and Cirneco dell’Etna – will make their debuts this year, having just been added to the American Kennel Club’s registry.
“He’s great”, owner and breeder Valerie Nunes-Atkinson said earlier in the night after CJ won the sporting group.
Wire fox terriers hold the Westminster record with 14 bests in show.
“The most-coveted award in the dog show world, Best In Show at Westminster, was given for the first time in 1907”, the Westminster Kennel Club’s website says.

The first night of judging on Monday resulted in winners in four groups, including a borzoi in the hound group, a shih tzu in the toy group, a bulldog in the nonsporting group and a German shepherd in the herding group.
