Five people, including three firefighters, were injured in a fire at a Detroit apartment building that seemed to initially rage out of control Tuesday afternoon.

Young gave a heartfelt apology to her displaced neighbors.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, says she killed some of the bedbugs a few weeks ago by turning up the heat in her west side apartment, which is near Outer Drive and Rouge Park.
The Detroit Fire Department ruled the fire an accident.
Young tells the newspaper she was spraying herself with rubbing alcohol when it was ignited by a stove and oven.
“I feel so bad about everything, and my neighbors mostly”, she said over the phone to the press. She bought 20 bottles of rubbing alcohol from Walmart, according to the Detroit Free Press, and slept in her vehicle Monday night. When she was cleaning near the oven, she saw the alcohol catch fire. “I would not have doused myself before going into the apartment”.

By the time the fire spread to other units, nine fire engines and nearly 60 personnel had arrived to see the flames had caused the roof above the third floor to cave in. One received burns to the neck from a collapsing piece of the apartment’s ceiling, and two others were treated for possible smoke inhalation.
