Tan said the safety equipment used for the game was imported from Europe and is given to all tourists who buy entrance tickets.

Sky News reports that one man has been questioned, but not arrested, under suspicion of taking the three British tourists on an unauthorized tour of the waterfalls after locals informed them that the group had not paid entry.

The state-run Tuoi Tre newspaper said the bodies of the women, aged 18 and 25, and man, 25, have been transported to Ho Chi Minh city.

Do Ngoc Long, driver of a local travel firm booked by the tourists, said he drove them to the site at 11:30 a.m. and learned about the accident at 1 p.m.

Alan McGlashan said he had spoken to his son James, who had been travelling with Mr Sloan since January 4.

The guide raised the alarm on Friday afternoon and the police recovered two of the bodies from an abyss in the downstream area of the waterfall.

‘We are working on the reasons for their deaths, ‘ Dalat city’s deputy police chief Bui Duc Ro told AFP.

“Thank you for all your support”.

The Foreign Office has also said that it is in contact with local authorities.

Meanwhile, Lucie Elizabeth wrote on Facebook: “Cannot believe what I’ve just heard another angel taken far too soon Christian Sloan my thoughts go out to all of your family at this sad time”.

With three young British tourists dead at the Vietnam waterfalls, most likely victims of unsafe tourism practices by local authorities, British nationals remember others who have died or gone missing before them in Southeast Asia.
