Three-day-long encounter in Poonch ends, combing on
The security forces’ operation to neutralise holed up militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch continued for third consecutive day on Tuesday.

A policeman and three militants were killed in separate encounters in different parts of Jammu Kashmir on Sunday.
On Sunday, a policeman was killed while five others-two police officials, a civilian and two soldiers-were injured. The police officer was cremated on Monday.
Few more militants are suspected to be around the mini-secretariat in Allah Pir area of Poonch. In the initial exchange of fire, one cop identified as Rajinder Kumar was killed and another got injured. Reports say that the terrorists have left the bungalow and one of them is hiding in an under construction mini-secretariat while the second one is inside a school.. When their servant Mohommed Taraf entered the kitchen for work, the terrorists fired at and killed him too. There is possibility that another terrorist might be holed up inside the building.
In Bandipora, another gunfight started on Sunday morning near the LoC in Gurez sector.
The area was cordoned off last evening by the security forces after which militants reportedly split into two teams.
When asked about the recent encounter in Poonch, Khurana said, “This attack has come just before Eid in a propaganda bid”.
Kashmir is witnessing unrest since July 8, after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces.

“There were four militants in number and they have been killed, ” Inspector General of Police (IG) Johny Williams, In-charge Rajouri-Poonch Ranger here told UNI. Security forces recovered four weapons from the terrorists.
