Three dead, one injured in Toronto area, crossbow found nearby

Police say the man who called 911 was killed in the incident.

Three people died Thursday in an crossbow incident at a home east of Toronto.

Toronto police spokesperson Const. David Hopkinson told the Star that three people were found near Lawndale and Argo Rds. with crossbow bolts in their body.

Two other men were injured in the attack; one of them was arrested at the scene.

CTV News, citing emergency services, said three victims were pronounced dead and two others were seriously injured.

Around 13 am, the police were called by one of the victims for injuries inflicted with a knife in a residential area of Scarborough area.

A neighbor said he had heard screams and what sounded like a fight in a garage for five minutes before the noise stopped entirely.

Brett Ryan, 35, is facing three first-degree murder charges.

“We don’t have any idea with regards to why this may have happened”, Hopkinson said.

Faiza Siddiqui, who lives on an adjoining street next to a park, said the incident was disturbing. They gave no details on how the cases were related and declined to comment on Friday. “I heard somebody screaming in anger and banging”.

On the same day that the crossbow murders occurred, a building in downtown Toronto was evacuated after police were alerted to a suspicious package. “Then he said he heard a “bang, bang, bang” noise, and then someone was saying ‘calm down'”.
