Three killed in Palestinian shooting attack in Tel Aviv – Israeli police

Two Palestinian gunmen killed four people at a popular shopping and restaurant area in Tel Aviv on Wednesday in an attack that sent diners, some clutching small children, running for their lives just outside Israel’s Defence Ministry.

Rosenfeld said knife attacks have been more common lately, with the last shooting in Tel Aviv occurring months ago.

Police said the assailants killed four people in the 9:30 p.m. (1830 GMT) assault and that six were wounded.

Palestinians in Hebron and Gaza reportedly set off fireworks following the attack. According to footage from the scene, an armed civilian shot at one of the suspected perpetrators.

Police ordered everyone to stay where they were, so “we were in the store for an hour without knowing exactly what was going on”, she said.

There were no immediate details identifying the attackers or victims.

Violence since October has killed at least 207 Palestinians, 28 Israelis, two Americans, an Eritrean and a Sudanese.

About 200 Palestinians have been killed over this eight-month period, with Israel identifying a lot of them as attackers.

Israel’s Channel 2 reported one suspected terrorist was neutralized on Haarba’a Street, located about a quarter mile from the market.

Sarona Market is Israel’s largest indoor market.
