Three live-action Star Wars series could be coming to Netflix soon

Cinelinx broke the story claiming the company wants to do the same sort of thing with Star Wars that it has done with Marvel, which it also owns. Although a couple of years ago it was looking like a live-action series might air on ABC, at the time, Disney and LucasFilm were still trying to nail down the schedules for their upcoming films.

Meanwhile, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” comes out in theatres on December 18. And though those rumors remain unconfirmed and this should be taken with a sizable grain of salt, given the rumor’s source, a site called Cinelinx is throwing some wood on the fire by reporting that Disney is planning to continue its Marvel partnership with streaming giant Netflix by collaborating on as many as three live-action Star Wars series.

Unfortunately, no details were given about the shows themselves, or where they may be situated within the Star Wars universe.

With Rogue One covering the Rebels’ troops and the second of the Star Wars Anthology movies covering young Han Solo and potentially Boba Fett too, what’s left for the TV series?

With Marvel and Netflix teaming up on all these superhero shows (like this year’s “Daredevil“), Disney may have gotten together with the streamer to plot some small-screen Galaxy skirmishes.

In fact reports are that filming of the TV series is being scheduled to fit between work on the various movies so that they can share the same sets. Sure, he gave us the prequels, and at one stage he was very keen on doing a TV series based on the property – scripts were even completed, apparently – but compared to what Disney are now doing with the “Star Wars” brand, Lucas came off rather uninterested in doing much beyond the core Skywalker saga. And what would you like to see be the storylines for the series?
