Officers also arrested two Pittsburgh Pirates minor-leaguers and a fourth man after a “large disturbance” at the Bronze Boar bar, according to police reports.

Gift Ngoepe and Dovydas Neverauskas were arrested in Toledo late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, Pirates Prospects has learned.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Ngoepe was charged with one count of simple assault and two counts of resisting arrest and Neverauskas was charged with two counts of resisting arrest and one count of misconduct. “We have made the decision to suspend both players for seven days, taking them through the remainder of their seasons”.

Indianapolis Indians Vice President of Baseball and Administrative Affairs Cal Burleson addressed the incident in a statement to the Indianapolis Star.

When the officer tried to put handcuffs on Ngoepe, the player twisted free and walked away.

Ngoepe, according to the report, began yelling at a female bartender after being asked to dispose of his drink, which prompted Goncharuk to step in and push Ngoepe to the floor. Saupold pitched in Monday’s game against the Indians, going five innings in relief in an 8-1 win for Toledo. Officers noted Mr. Neverauskas tucked his arms against his chest while police attempted to arrest him, court documents show. Outside the establishment, Saupold struck Andrey Goncharuk, and Ngoepe and Neverauskas interfered with officers who were in the process of making arrests.

Mr. Goncharuk of Monroe and Indianapolis Indians shortstop Mpho Ngoepe, 26, of Indianapolis, are also charged with assault.
