Three newcomers for Australia ODIs in South Africa
With Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood being rested in preparation for a hectic summer of cricket, and a number of other frontline fast bowlers including James Pattinson, Pat Cummins and Nathan Coulter-Nile all battling injuries, three uncapped seamers have been named in the squad.

Mennie spent two seasons with the Rosellas in his early teens, having moved to Newcastle from Coffs Harbour. Australia have named a 15-men squad for the tour.
Worrall, 25, and Mennie, 27, also played alongside Tremain in the one-day tournament but with less success, although Worrall did take 4 for 26 to complement Tremain’s 5 for 25 when India A were shot out for just 55 in their opening match of the tournament. In 24 interstate one-dayers, he has taken 24 wickets at 41.54.
The new names in the squad are pacers Joe Mennie, Chris Tremain and Daniel Worrall.
Australia’s David Warner celebrates scoring a hundred against Sri Lanka during their fifth one day worldwide cricket match in Pallekele, Sri Lanka, Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016.
“I was very shocked actually”.
Rod Marsh, the national selector said that the trio deserve their call-ups due to their impressive performances at the domestic level and in the games for Australia A. “It was something I didn’t see coming”.
With Starc and Hazlewood rested and fellow quicks Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Pattinson, Pat Cummins and Peter Siddle not considered because of injury, the newcomers will likely make their global debut on the South African tour.
Squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), George Bailey, Scott Boland, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, John Hastings, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Joe Mennie, Chris Tremain, Matthew Wade, Daniel Worrall, Adam Zampa.

The National Selection Panel’s announcement continues a stunning rise for the three unheralded state quicks and comes on the back of strong Sheffield Shield campaigns in which they claimed three of the top five spots on the list of wicket-takers, as well as standout performances with Australia A during the ongoing tour in Queensland.
