Three Palestinians killed in attacks on Israelis

On Saturday, the Israeli military raided a Palestinian radio station in Hebron and confiscated equipment it said was being used to broadcast calls to attack Israelis.

Eighty-four Palestinians have been killed in the spate of violence since October 1, a few while carrying out attacks and others in clashes with Israeli forces.

The Palestinian suspect, from a village near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, was apprehended in the garden of a nearby house after security forces mounted a search.

Right-wing Israeli politicians allied with prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu have increased visits to the site and have said they will seek to allow Jewish prayer there.

Frustration by a new Palestinian generation at the failure to achieve statehood through negotiations – and anger at ongoing Israeli settlement expansion – are seen as an underlying cause of the violence.

The wave of violence began over tensions surrounding a sensitive Jerusalem holy site and has since spread across Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza border.
