Three Palestinians Launch Knife Attacks Near Tel Aviv

Israeli Police on Monday discovered an improvised explosive device in a auto belonging to Palestinians near a checkpoint in the West Bank.

One crude cartoon making the rounds on Facebook, including on the official Palestinian TV page before it disappeared late Tuesday, depicts an Israeli soldier as an ape, accompanied by a pig, over a bloodied youth.

Forces treated the wounded Palestinian at the scene, the army said, but he died of his wounds.

The official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, said he was wounded in the incident.

Since mid-September, there has been series of Palestinian attacks associated with tensions over a sensitive Jerusalem holy site.

Three Israelis were stabbed in an attack that began on a bus and continued into the street in the Israeli city of Rishon Lezion.

Almost 70 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces this month during demonstrations and after attempted, alleged, and actual attacks on Israeli military or civilians. Forty of them were armed mainly with knives, while others were shot during violent protests, Israel says.

Eleven Israelis have been killed in stabbings and shootings by Palestinians.

In the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian security forces held a military salute at a funeral ceremony for two Palestinians killed by Israeli fire.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Palestinians in the West Bank has been the deadliest since an uprising a decade ago. Israel controls the city centre, where 850 Jewish settlers live, while the remaining areas of the city are under Palestinian self-rule.

Approximately 100,000 people came to remember Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin at a Tel Aviv rally to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his assassination that featured speeches by President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton.
