One of the alleged robbers, believed to be a 16 to 17-year-old Asian youth referred to as Kushi, brandished a handgun while a fellow assailant demanded the victims hand over their devices.
While one suspect demanded that the three teenagers hand over their phones, a second revealed what the police said was a handgun from his waistband.
Half-an-hour earlier a man, 24, walking through the park near Holloway Road was robbed at gunpoint by three people.
Scotland Yard believes the two incidents are linked, given the suspects’ descriptions, the methods used and the fact that it happened in the same park within 30 minutes of each other.
One, around 5ft 6ins tall was referred to as “Kushi” and wore a black zip-up jumper, black pants and a black bandana.
Pokémon Go, the mobile game that overlays a virtual world on real locations, has rapidly become a global phenomenon with millions of players.
He also appealed for witnesses, saying: “Were you in the area?” Did you see anything?
Police said suspect one, who was wearing a black zip-up jumper, black pants and a black bandana covering his face, was referred to as “Kushi” by another suspect who was armed with the handgun.
Islington based officer PC Kevin Yeung said that robberies where a gun is shown are very rare in London, and police are keen to track down the culprits.
The third suspect was wearing a grey puffer jacket. He was wearing a black zip-up jumper, black North Face gilet, and dark coloured pants.
