The controversial Islamic preacher claimed he never encouraged anyone to kill innocents and said he will co-operate with any probe agency if it approaches him.

Addressing the media via a Skype link from Medina in Saudi Arabia, Naik, in his introductory remarks today condemned the terror attack in Nice that killed more than 80 people.

One of the slain attackers of the terrorist attack in Dhaka’s high-security Gulshan area, the 22-year-old Rohan Imtiaz quoted Naik in a Facebook post in January this year where he urged “all Muslims to be terrorists”. He condemned all terror attacks and said he would speak for hours if need be to clear his stand. He also said he can address all allegations made against him on TV and got distributed pen drives to Mumbai reporters for further clarifications.

To which, representatives from Naik’s organisation, Islamic Research Foundation, objected calling the question irrelevant for the press conference. “But such speakers are actually misguiding the people, misrepresenting facts and are anti-Quran”, Naik said.

Bangladesh government had also banned Peace TV headed by Zakir Naik in the country following reports that he his speeches have allegedly been influencing the minds of youngsters to commit terror attacks.
