Thunder, Spurs & Warriors Top Contenders For Durant

Previous reports stated that six teams will have the chance of meeting Durant when free agency hits.

Durant is an unrestricted free agent and the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers are among the teams Durant plans to meet with, according to ESPN.

“I do consider myself part of the Knicks, so that meeting has already taken place”, Anthony added.

Durant’s representatives at Roc Nation have said that their client will meet with six National Basketball Association teams regarding his National Basketball Association free agency: the Thunder, the Golden State Warriors, the Miami Heat, the San Antonio Spurs, the Boston Celtics, and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Teams can’t negotiate with Durant, or any other free agent, until July 1st. The Knicks have gained a little traction on KD’s radar, but there isn’t any news to whether Durant will meet with NY.

“We’ve been together. We’ve been talking”, Anthony told ESPN of Durant, who’s been in NY in recent days leading up to the announcement of USA Basketball’s roster for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

“I’m with KD now; he’s right downstairs”, Anthony told ESPN.

Granted, Durant speaking with Anthony works just as effectively as a larger Knicks contingent wooing the free-agent forward. He says the Thunder still are favorites to re-sign Durant but that the Warriors “have Durant’s attention”.

Durant is also expected to have a face-to-face meeting with Pat Riley of Miami Heat.

The Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards also have interest in Durant, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical.

Durant is projected to make $26.6 million next season.

Should New York Knicks hold their breath for Kevin Durant? He averaged 28.2 points per game last season and led the Thunder to within one victory of the NBA Finals.
