According to a report by K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, the tentative schedule for the 2015-2016 National Basketball Association Regular Season has the Bulls opening the season against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They even opened the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season with a Christmas Day tilt in Los Angeles, where Derrick Rose hit a game-winning floater with seconds remaining.
Chicago’s visit to OKC for Christmas will be the Bulls’ lone trip to Chesapeake Energy Arena this season.
Thoughts: This would be an awesome setting for the Bulls on Christmas Day.
The Thunder is 4-1 in Christmas games, with wins against Denver in 2010, the Magic in 2011, New York in 2013 and San Antonio in 2014. The franchise’s only defeat on the auspicious day was at Miami in 2012.
In the spotlight will also be debuting head coach Billy Donovan who takes over from Scott Brook. For the Spurs, it’ll be the first game for LaMarcus Aldridge and David West in their new San Antonio uniforms, as well as other acquisitions the team made this summer, like trading for Ray McCallum, signing Boban Marjanovic, Jonathon Simmons, and possibly adding Jimmer Fredette, assuming he makes the roster by the opening night of the season.

Oh, and the Thunder will have Kevin Durant back in the lineup (knock on wood). Durant missed the final 28 contests last season and 55 total games in 2014-15 due to foot and ankle injuries.
