Thunderstorms arrive this weekend before the heat turns up next week

A few severe thunderstorms may pop up later this afternoon, but the best chances are later this evening and overnight as a large complex of severe storms are forecast to move from Colorado and into western Kansas.

Next week, look forward to more average temperatures and thunderstorms. South wind 9 to 14 miles per hour with gusts as high as 20 miles per hour. Highs in the lower 90s.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. High of 88; low of 65. Highs in the upper 70s.

Tomorrow, those rain chances are coming back with some scattered showers and thunderstorms forecasted for the afternoon hours. High of 86; low of 66.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Mostly sunny with a high near 95. South winds 5-15 miles per hour.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. South southeast winds 5 to 15 miles per hour.

Friday night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
