Thunderstorms possible today, weather service says

Overnight, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., with a low around 65. Heat index values as high as 99. In central IN, strong winds did damage IN Putnam county just before 8 PM. South wind 9 to 15 miles per hour with gusts as high as 21 miles per hour.

A shower or thunderstorm is not out of the question this morning, but the main event looks to be holding off until this afternoon.

A weakening weather front nearby may generate a few spot showers and storms, but nothing as organized as what’s occurring today.

Not everyone will see showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 73.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, along with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The high will be near 85.

Sunday: Sunny with a high near 95.

The overnight low is expected to be near 60.

The potential for more precipitation follows the torrential rains Wednesday night, which caused flooding in parts of the county.

The hot weather will continue through the weekend and into next week, with high temperatures in the mid-80s to low 90s, according to AccuWeather.
