In the San Francisco Bay Area, where high housing costs are notorious, residents looking to make a quick buck are offering to rent their homes at super-sized prices to the 1 million visitors expected for Super Bowl 50 festivities.

Tech Trends reporter Gabe Slate explains how and when you can win.
It is the first time in over five years that a single ticket for the Super Bowl is valued at more than $4,000 and the fact that the game is being played in Silicon Valley gives reason to believe that the affluent population that resides in the area plays a part in the inflated prices.
If that price holds, it will become the most expensive ticket on the resale market in SeatGeek history, beating out the Floyd Mathweather-Manny Pacquiao fight in 2015 in which ticket prices averaged $4,672.
The Super Bowl has an interesting combination of artists performing at this year’s halftime show. $5,461. The largest sales regions geographically have been in California, where 29 percent of tickets have been purchased, as of Monday morning.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning watches the AFC championship trophy presentation following the NFL football AFC Championship game between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, in Denver.
“The biggest driver of ticket prices this year is less about which teams are playing, but where the game is”, SeatGeek spokesperson Chris Leyden told USA TODAY Sports.

Other than the tickets for the Super Bowl game being ridiculous, a lot of fans and critics have already called out the probable outcome of the game. For fans who are making the trip from Denver or Carolina, flight and hotel fares can be a considerable expense. There is now a 60% chance of rain forecast for February 7, according to The Weather Channel, which could dampen demand over the next two weeks.
