Tiger Memon allegedly says will make India pay for hanging Yakub

Prominent among the questions to the Supreme Court is why Memon was not allowed 14 days between the rejection of his clemency petition by the President and his hanging on July 30. Meanwhile, political leaders on Friday condemned this and said that India will give befitting reply to Memon.

On its part, the apex court administration has also decided to strengthen the security measures for Justice Misra and all other judges.

Former Supreme Court Judge Harjit Singh Bedi said, reports that the fact that Yakub co-operated with investigators and returned voluntarily to India, should have been taken into account by the court when hearing his appeal.

Yakub Memon has been convicted in 2007 after the deadly attack in Mumbai in 1993 in which 257 people were killed as bombs exploded serially in landmarks across the city including the Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has denied that absconding mafia don Mushtaque alias Tiger Memon allegedly called up his mother and threatened to avenge his brother Yakub Memon’s hanging last week. Tiger Memon and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim were the key conspirators behind the Mumbai blasts. “Main unko chukwaonga (I will make them pay)”, Tiger reportedly said. According to reports, Tiger’s mother was earlier reluctant to speak to him but later came on the line. Special Commissioner (law and order) Deepak Mishra visited his residence and did a security audit, police said.
