Tiger Woods Commits to the Wyndham Championship
The presumption Friday afternoon at the PGA Championship was that Tiger Woods was playing his last official PGA Tour round of the season. He shot 63 at the U.S. Open in 1973, and remains the only player to shoot that number in the final round to win a major.

The revelation of Tiger Woods’ off-the-course activities is a case in point, but does that make his golfing achievements any less impressive?
Daly, who earned a lifetime exemption to the PGA Championship with his 1991 victory at Crooked Stick, wound up with an 82.
Johnny Miller was the first to go that low. “I know I’m in the 200s somewhere [in the world rankings], but as far as paying attention to it, no. I’m just trying to get better”, he explained. A rather paltry offering of 20 players, 18 of which are male, can be used for a round of golf in PGA Tour. McIlroy, who tore a ligament playing soccer with friends on July 4 and had to miss the British Open, said he “felt like I played good in parts”.
“Hopefully I can hit the ball as well as I did today tomorrow and make some putts”, he said. They are not bound by the limitations of the majority, they are the dreamers (AP McCoy, Schumacher, Messi, Bolt, Nicklaus) who have no boundaries. So the PGA, which is looking like a third straight missed cut at a major, would be his last start. He made birdie at the first hole, an eagle at No. 16 and stumbled only twice with bogeys at Nos. After two early birdies Friday, he double-bogeyed the fourth hole, then bogeyed the eighth.
Rory McIlroy may be ranked No. 1, but he just took a backseat to Jordan Spieth, his latest challenger for the throne. His only non-par on the next nine holes was a bogey on eight that left him one over for the round and effectively sealed his fate. Spieth made birdie there and was at 2-under 34 for his front nine, and in the mix for the lead as the tournament nears the midway point. He now sits at four-over par for the championship with the projected cut at two-over, and will continue his second round on Saturday morning.
At 4 under, Iwata was tied for 15th when play was suspended.
Woods, a four-times victor of the PGA Championship, planned to head off to the practice area to work on his putting once his media commitments were over. Having no dedicated Spectator Mode, with viewpoints at a significant distance away from other players, sucks all of the enjoyment and sledging out of online multiplayer, especially since every hole is virtually silent with no background ambience.
Woods was asked about his remaining schedule after an opening-round 75.

“I wish I would have been a couple shots better or maybe even pick one off and get to 4-under or something like that, that would have been nicer, ” Stricker said.
