“My hope is to have my game ready to go”, the 40-year-old said.

From there, he will front at the Tiger Woods Foundation-run Hero World Challenge from December 1-4 in the Bahamas.

“My rehabilitation is to the point where I’m comfortable making plans, but I still have work to do”. Miller, who redesigned Silverado, believes that the layout is an ideal venue for Woods to hit his first competitive shot since August 2015, and a course where the 14-time major champ can leave his driver in the bag. I’m also excited to return to Turkey and Albany.

“It was hard missing tournaments that are important to me, but this time I was smart about my recovery and didn’t rush it”, Woods said.

Woods is also planning to play in Europe, in the Turkish Airlines Open in Antalya, while the 14-time major victor is set to make his presence felt in the Hero World Challenge in December. “There’s been a couple of times where I feel like he may have come back too soon and kind of injured himself a little bit more and that’s what’s kept him out of the game so long”.

“But there’s probably a lot of anticipation to see how the state of his game is and I’m definitely looking forward to watching those tournaments and seeing how his body holds up and how the mental side and obviously the golf side of things hold up as well”.

“It was hard missing tournaments that are important to me, but this time I was smart about my recovery and didn’t rush it”. He has been out for a while but it is always tough to come back, even though you are the greatest of all time.

Woods missed all four majors in a calendar year for the first time this year and made just 11 tournament appearances last year. “I’ve missed that”, he said. “I’ve been a pro about 20 years, and their support has never waned”.

Tiger Woods is returning to competitive golf.

“He needs to get back out here”, U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson said.

Phil Mickelson, a World Golf Hall of Fame member who committed to the tournament in June, is looking forward to Woods’ return. And I don’t know if anyone’s going to emulate that at all, but I think people need to remember that. Woods had been planning to play a year ago until back surgery, and then the tournament changed title sponsors.
