Tiger Woods’s agent denies ‘ridiculous’ reports golfer struggles to walk

So with that, here’s the latest: Mark Steinberg, Woods’ long-time agent, felt compelled Monday to release a statement to shoot down a series of reports on Twitter indicating Woods had a major setback in his rehabilitation from his most recent back surgery in October.

On Friday, Steinberg told ESPN that he had no update on Woods’ status, echoing similar comments he made at the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this year. “It’s reprehensible that every few months someone makes something up and it’s treated like a real story”, Steinberg said. It has been a long time since we saw the Tiger of old show up at a major tournament, and we may not ever see it again.

Lusetich had previously tweeted: “I’m told Tiger Woods condition worsened”.

Neither divulged sources or said if the reports were linked to anyone close to Woods.

The tweets that gained attention Monday were written by Robert Lusetich, author of “Unplayable: An Inside Account of Tiger’s Most Tumultuous Season”.

The former world number one has been a shadow of his former self as personal difficulties, and injuries, have dulled his edge, and kept him away from the course for the best part of the last two years. He can’t move well; painful to sit.

Then in December at the Hero World Challenge, Woods stated that he has no timetable for a return to golf. Sits in vehicle with seat fully reclined. “No foreseeable return. Sad”.

Later, Lusetich added via tweet: “About 90-95% of microdiscectomies _ like #Tiger had _ are successful”.

Not to say career’s over, but no imminent return.
