Tiger Woods to Play 2015 Wyndham Championship After Missing PGA Championship Cut

After finishing tied for 17th at The Masters, Woods missed the cut at the U.S. Open, the British Open and now, this week at Whistling Straits. He needed 20 putts to get through the first 13 greens – a better rate than Thursday, when he putted a total of 33 times and was asking, to no one in particular, “How bad am I putting?” with an expletive thrown in there, too. “I finally rolled the ball coming in and unfortunately it was a little too late”. “Some of the work he’s been doing on his golf swing and the way he aligns and aims the ball with the irons and three-wood, when you can kind of trap it and move it around that golf course, it might suit him well”.

“I think it’s more just building”, Woods said Saturday after missing the cut at the PGA Championship. Only the top 125 advance to the first FedEx Cup playoff event, the Barclays, the week of August. 24. “Actually I’ll go to my sports bar, how about that?” he said, referring to the restaurant in Jupiter that he opened this week. And I still have plenty of golf to be played for the rest of the year.

There’s been so much speculation about Woods maybe hanging it up or semi-retiring as he gets older and prioritizes his kids and non-golf endeavors. “Now if I can start putting like I did today or what I did at Quicken Loans a couple weeks ago, then we have got something”.

But Woods insists his confidence is growing as he feels his game returning. Woods will miss the cut for the third straight time in a major.

He referred to mistakes that kept him from shooting a really low number, but he is confident that his game is not going downhill – unlike the playful deliberate slide he took on Whistling Straits’ slick slopes Friday.

If you woke up this morning wondering why it felt like it’s been so long since you’ve seen Tiger Woods playing on a Saturday, it’s because he hasn’t been around to do so. After a third missed cut on the spin at a major this season – on this occasion by four strokes after a second- round 73 – there is only futility in that. “I’m hitting shots I haven’t been able to hit in years”.

McIlroy says he wants to take stock of where he is and then will start up at the Deutsche Bank Championship outside Boston and play through to the Tour Championship.

“Season or year?” he said.

Jordan Spieth’s second-place finish in the PGA Championship cemented his 2015 season as historic.

Tiger is looking forward to playing this week”, Steinberg said. “That’s the fun part”.

“I’m just going to sit back and I’ll go through it with my team”.
