Tigers’ Sanchez loses no-hit bid in 7th vs Royals

Walks to Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon were Sanchez’s only blemishes through six innings, and he tallied eight strikeouts along the way. In fairness, Wilson has been hampered by an elbow issue for which he recently received a cortisone injection, and fellow reliever Shane Greene has been battling through a posterior oblique injury for a few weeks, though the Greene insists it had nothing to do with the two-run shot he surrendered to Eric Hosmer that opened up a two-run lead in the ninth. Starter Anibal Sanchez took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning and ended the night with a no-decision, giving up one hit while striking out eight and walking two. It was Gordon’s 10th home run of the season.

Kansas City’s second hit came in the fifth inning, when Gordon hit another slider into almost the same spot as Mondesi. He reached 100 pitches in the seventh inning, as the Royals worked deep into counts and fouled off many pitches. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM. “I think he might’ve been cheating a little bit and he got me”.

Sanchez was the one bright spot, especially after allowing eight runs in four innings in his previous start.

“I have considered it”, Ausmus said.

The Royals were no-hit for 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday night.

“I didn’t strike a lot of guys out tonight, but I was getting weak contact”, he said. I made a bad pitch to a good hitter.

Kansas City added to the lead in the sixth. Kansas City added an insurance run on Drew Butera‘s bloop single to put KC ahead 4-1.

The Kansas City Royals are rolling right now with their sweep of the Tigers.

Anibal Sanchez allowed one hit, but the Tigers couldn’t avoid a sweep.

“I tried to throw a curveball down and in and just left it a little bit up”, Sanchez said. Alex Gordon drilled a game-tying solo homer – his 10th of the season – in the top of the eighth.

Santana allowed four hits over seven scoreless innings, Joe Mauer homered as part of a three-hit game and the Twins defeated the Braves 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Yasmany Tomas homered for the Diamondbacks, who lost for just the third time in their past nine games.

The Tigers announced shortly before the first pitch that they had traded utilityman Mike Aviles and minor-league catcher Kade Scivicque to Atlanta for infielder Erick Aybar. “So that will make things easier in the clubhouse”. Lorenzo Cain followed with a run-scoring double for a 5-1 Royals lead.
