A Delhi court last week directed Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party vice president Rahul Gandhi and five others accused in the National Herald case to appear before it on 19 December. The bail was granted on a personal surety bond of Rs 50,000 each. He posted the case for further hearing at 2 PM on February 20, next year.

With Centre allotting government accommodation to BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who has been in the eye of the storm for his petition in the National Herald case, the Congress Party on Saturday dubbed him as the BJP and NDA’s well-paid contractual litigant. It may be recalled that former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao also had his court hearings in the Lakhubhai Pathak case there, for security reasons.
They will be accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra.
“We are open to availing all legal remedies and options including bail” said party’s chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala ahead of the two top leaders appearing before Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen in the Patiala House courts.
“The Z category status and official accommodation is a reward (to him)”, Azad said.
Congress members of Parliament had raised protests in both Houses of Parliament for several days against the “political vendetta”, disrupting business especially in the Rajya Sabha, where the Opposition parties have the advantage of numbers.
Before elections, BJP had given a call for Congress-free India, now they are trying to have a Opposition-free India: Congress. “The court has taken cognisance, and this was taken before the Modi government came to power that this is a matter of prima facie breach of trust”.
They are accused of acquiring the assets of a newspaper illegally. “They should face the court”, he added. “We are proceeding to court in a serious, dignified and respectful manner”, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told media here. I have filed a private complaint.
