Tim Cook claims over 6.5 million paid users have Apple Music
The music-streaming service, which launched in June and costs $9.99 a month, now has 6.5 million paying subscribers. Unfortunately Cook declined to offer any hard numbers but said that “We shipped a lot the first quarter…”, and every quarter the shipments are growing, he added.

Meanwhile, Apple has been mum about its plans to design an electric, self-driving vehicle, despite many press reports joining Apple with companies like Tesla, Google and others who are exploring this new frontier.
Apple Music has announced that 6.5 million people have continued to use the service with a paid subscription after their initial three month free-trial period finished. Almost half of those trial members have now quit the service, which makes it even more impressive that Apple Music has almost a third as many subscribers as rival Spotify in such a short period of time.
Just a few months after it launched, Apple Music is already gaining ground against the might of Spotify in the music streaming market confirming it has 6.5m paying customers. Combined, this gives Apple Music more than 15 million active users in total, which Cook described as a successful debut.
Although television has been slow to change, Cook expressed optimism that the industry will eventually embrace his vision of apps for TV. The Apple TV’s price starts from $149.
Cook also revealed that the new Siri-enhanced Apple TV will start shipping next week.

Spotify likes to tout its algorithmically generated playlist Discover Weekly, which helps users find new music based on their listening habits, as a key differentiator.
Forbes declared Apple Music a failure after three months, but maybe that was premature.

“It would seem like there will be massive change in that industry, massive change”, Cook said at the Wall Street Journal’s WSJDLive conference in California.
