Tim Kaine accepts Democratic nomination for VP

When Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton announced her vice presidential choice, she referred to Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as a progressive who is “everything Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not”. Tim Kaine is now officially the Democratic vice presidential nominee, but party officials intentionally rushed the formal proceedings here at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday to avoid the boos and protests of Bernie Sanders supporters. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012, after a stint as chair of the Democratic National Committee. Kaine has reportedly told Clinton that he will back her stance on the trade agreement, according to CBS News.

“For my friend Hillary Clinton, I humbly accept my party’s nomination to be vice president of the United States”, he said.

While many thought Hillary would pick Elizabeth Warren or Cory Booker, she selected Tim as her running mate, the quiet Senator from Virginia who’s self-described as “boring”.

But Kaine’s long-time friend and fellow senator Mark Warner said Tuesday that his fellow Virginian’s tone and tenor make him the ideal antidote to GOP nominee Donald Trump – something that Warner believes will be on display in his speech. Wednesday’s Waukesha rally was aimed squarely at the Republican core – at shoring up Trump’s shaky support in Wisconsin’s southeastern suburbs, a GOP hotbed where he lost badly in the state’s April presidential primary. “She said she didn’t know how any woman could vote for him after his offensive comments”. “Is it too much to ask that it be a woman instead of someone who offends women every time he opens his mouth?”

“In the end, by repealing the Hyde Amendment we will actually save this country money”, Chu told CNSNews.com at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Senator Kaine will speak tonight on the third day of Democratic Nation Convention. That’s what Barack and Michelle Obama are about.

California delegates hoisted a few dozen anti-TPP signs when Kaine started speaking, and delegates in a number of other states joined them in waving the signs throughout his address.

Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta praised Kaine’s “strong progressive credentials”, saying he “comes from a place of deep conviction”.

Clinton, by contrast, is ready for the job, Kaine said.

Kaine’s allies, both in the Clinton and Sanders’ camps, say his record must be judged in totality.

Kaine says it was hard work steering his state through the recession, but he says, “Hey, tough times don’t last – and tough people do”.

Kaine went on to do an impression of Trump and his frequent call for voters to “believe me”, saying Trump is proved wrong by how he duped investors, consumers and others in his history of business deals.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination, said Kaine had brought his beliefs in Catholic social justice to his public service, something he has practiced throughout his career.

With working-class roots and a spotless record both as Virginia governor and senator he is seen as helping Clinton garner support among reluctant independent male voters- although at the risk of alienating the party's progressive left wing
