Tim Kaine accepts nomination as Democratic Party’s vice president

“Her running mate, Tim Kaine, who by the way, did a bad job in New Jersey”, Trump said at a news conference in Miami.

Kaine, a low-key Spanish-speaking politician from the battleground state of Virginia, seized the night to introduce himself to a cheerful national audience at the convention hall and millions in front of the television at home.

“Donald Trump goes around with that hat on, “Make America Great Again”.

“That’s what I’m about, that what you’re about”.

In another highlight, Kaine paid tribute to Bernie Sanders’ supporters. There’s a good chance that you know Hillary wants it eliminated, because nothing would please her more than using forcibly confiscated cash to fund Margaret Sanger’s despicable organization.

Kaine said Trump, a businessman and reality TV show host, was fundamentally untrustworthy.

Trump “paints a picture, a negative, dark, divisive picture of a country in decline”, Clinton said.

In picking Kaine, Clinton hopes to further define her candidacy as hopeful and competent ― as well as brand her opponent, Donald Trump, as a reckless con-man.

In wrapping up his remarks, Kaine paid tributes to select Democratic presidents past, adding Hillary Clinton’s name at the end. “But we do resent people who take advantage of others in order to line their own pockets on the way up”, Clinton said.

Reports emerged this week that Kaine could support repealing the Hyde Amendment in a Clinton administration.

Senior Democrats and former national security figures lined up in Philadelphia on Wednesday to describe Trump as unable to steer America through the risky waters of today’s world.

Democrats contrasted their optimistic, policy-laden message with the darker vision and less specific platform that marked Trump’s turn during the Republican convention a week earlier. “As someone from NY who knows her, she knows me, she knows Newburgh”.

“As of tomorrow, we have 100 days to make our case to America”, she said. Yet Kaine’s nomination concerned some activists who pointed to his time as Virginia governor.

United Steelworkers Regional Director Bob McAuliffe was not aware of the vandalism, but he said the workers have the right to vote for the candidate of their choice.
