Tim Kaine back in Richmond after being named Democratic VP nominee
They spoke of his choice to take a year off and work with missionaries in Honduras rather than taking a prestigious internship while learning at Harvard, and Kaine mentioned that this was his first taste of what a dictatorship was like, insinuating correlations with a Trump presidency. That is what traditionally has set us apart from places that turned to single leaders, despots, dictators, authoritarians who have promised people, ‘I can fix it alone’.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, her vice-presidential running mate will launch a bus tour of two critical battlegrounds – Pennsylvania and Ohio – following this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
New running mates Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine will hit the road for a 3-day bus tour through Pennsylvania and OH after the Democratic National Convention, according to a campaign aide.
During his remarks, Kaine told his neighbors how thankful he was for their support, as well as for their indulgence for allowing the Kaine’s yard to sometimes look a little ragged.
Kaine is Virginia’s former governor and, prior to that, the mayor of Richmond. He is for “common sense” gun control, for the Affordable Care Act also called Obamacare, for tax increases, and voted against a bill to approve the Keystone Pipeline.
“Behind that smile Tim also has a backbone of steel. Just ask the NRA”, Clinton said.
Choking up, Kaine described the Virginia Tech shooting as the “worst day. of my life”.
“His political views are not my political views”.
Clinton introduced Kaine at the rally, calling him ready to become president on a moment’s notice.
“Tim is an extremely bright guy, a very nice guy”, said Sanders. Hillary Clinton continued to campaign for the general election in November.
He pointed out that his father-in-law was a Republican governor of Virginia who had integrated the public schools.
Family: Kaine is married to Anne Holton, Virginia’s education secretary. “What’s very important is that they work well together, which they seem to”.
“I don’t know a lot about him, so I ‘m going to have to see what he stands for”, Sharon Clark said. The couple planned to attend 9 a.m. Job killer!” In a tweet earlier in the day, Trump wrote that Kaine was “owned by the banks.
Over the last several days, Kaine emerged as the clear favorite before Clinton made it official via a text to supporters Friday night. “Bernie fought for nothing!”
At the event in Florida, Kaine recalled his time fighting housing discrimination as a young lawyer, saying: “If you want to be right, be a pessimist, if you want to do right, be an optimist”.
“Tim has always had a good heart”, she said. “And let me be honest, for many of you, this is the first time you’ve ever even heard my name”, he joked.
“Tim and I found our way to this parish nearly by accident”, Holton said.

“Bienvenidos a todos”, he said. “His life has been those kinds of choices”.
