Tim Krul thanks well-wishers after injury blow
Krul suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly on the artificial surface and was forced off after 81 minutes of Holland’s 2-1 win at the Astana Arena. Krul was only playing, because first choice keeper Jasper Cillessen was out with an injury of his own. Krul took to Twitter to thank Newcastle fans for their support and concern.

Krul’s compatriot Daryl Janmaat pulled out of the Netherlands squad with a knee injury, although Newcastle are hopeful he will be fit for the Super Sunday game against Norwich next weekend.
And Harper, a former Newcastle goalkeeper himself, has wished the 27-year-old all the best, while also joking about his and Stoke stopper Shay Given’s ‘dodgy knees’.
For Newcastle, this could mean the return of Rob Elliot at keeper.
The Dutchman’s injury, of course, leaves the St James’ Park outfit in a troublesome position, with Karl Darlow now out with a foot problem, as well.
The Magpies now sit bottom of the Premier League and are still without a victory to their name, while their 6-1 demolition at the hands of Manchester City before the global break only added to the pressure on manager Steve McClaren. Allardyce had a spell in charge of Newcastle between 2007 and 2008.
“I’ve got to get going and get stuck into the players, stuck into the staff and start getting everyone working my way and hopefully my way will be as good for Sunderland as it has been for the other clubs I have worked at, particularly West Ham, my last one”.

The 26-year-old has had a scan to find out the extent of the injury, and now looks set for an operation followed by months of rehabilitation.
