The personal achievement of Major Tim Peake has been phenomenal: having applied for an ESA – European Space Agency – astronaut in 2008, his luck came in 2009.
Back on planet earth, the physicist Brian Cox said that if Major Peake’s mission inspires just one or two school children to become engineers, scientists or test pilots then it would have been worth the effort.
Crew member Timothy Peake of Britain gestures after donning a space suit at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Tuesday before travelling on board the Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft.
Malenchenko, who will celebrate his 54th birthday aboard the ISS next week, has already logged 641 days in space, while Kopra has chalked up 58.
After leaving the Cosmonaut Hotel, where astronauts traditionally stay before missions, Peake honored the long-standing tradition of space adventurers by signing his bedroom door. They are arrived at the space station at 5.33pm GMT and opened the hatch to their new home two hours later.
He also was shown by one follower watching Pokemon, and another watching an adult TV station.
Previous “Brits in Space” have either been USA citizens or had dual citizenship, or been on privately funded or sponsored trips. Analyzing these microbes can help determine whether some are more virulent in space, and which genetic changes might be involved in this response.
She finished by wishing Peake and his family “a productive mission and a safe return”. Since NASA stopped its own launching vehicles, Soyuz rockets have been ferrying the astronauts to and from the space station during regular intervals.

They will be welcomed by Expedition 46 commander Scott Kelly, Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov. The latest batch of astronauts will replace Oleg Kononenko, Kimiya Yui and Kjell Lindgren. It orbits the Earth at more than 27,000 kilometers (16,740 miles) per hour at an altitude of 400 kilometers (250 miles).
