Tim Sheens resigns as Kangaroos coach
Sheens has spent the last two months working at Salford on a short-term advisory basis, and has now chose to make the role permanent.

“It was obviously a pressure part of our season with the Middle 8s and trying to survive in Super League, but we’ve done that successfully”.
It was also confirmed that Sheens will leave his job as Australia coach after a brilliant six-year spell in charge, which was highlighted by the 2013 World Cup victory.
“Now having had a good talk with the family and Marwan, he offered me a three-year deal”.
NRL head of football Todd Greenberg said: “Tim’s record speaks for itself – his teams won 26 of 31 Test matches while he was Kangaroos coach”.
Only Bob Fulton, with 40 Tests, coached Australia more times.
Sheens, who initially worked at Salford as a consultant earlier in the year, will return to Australia and be back next month to take up a role that runs to the end 2018, when he will be 68.
Sheens could not stop Salford finishing in the Super League’s bottom four this season, but after head coach Iestyn Harris left he assisted Ian Watson as they secured a top-flight place for next term by finishing third in the qualifiers.
The ARLC said it had not made any decision on a replacement for Sheens.
The pick of the new signings are Gareth O’Brien (Warrington), Mark Flanagan (St Helens) and Craig Kopczak (Huddersfield), while Phil Joseph (Widnes) is another new arrival.

“I have been greatly impressed by the desire and the commitment of these players to join the club and they are all very determined to develop their careers further as the club continues to build”, he told the club website.
