Tim Tebow arrives for 1st workout at Mets camp

The former MLB slugger is intrigued by Tim Tebow’s switch from football to baseball, and would like to help the former Florida Gators and Denver Broncos star make the transition.

Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy victor and former NFL quarterback, signed a minor league deal with the Mets earlier this month and now joins 57 other aspiring players for the team’s three-week instructional league.

Tebow held a workout in Los Angeles on August 30 and 46 scouts attended.

Tim Tebow’s attempt to become a professional baseball player started Monday morning.

“I just gotta get to my first practice first (laughs)”, he said.

Not to say that he will not respond to Canseco with respect and maybe even take advice from the former Major League Baseball player, because like it or not that is just the type of person and athlete that Tim Tebow is.

Tebow settled on the New York Mets and signed a deal, and is expected to play some winter ball this offseason. What if you don’t make it?’ Guess what? That is the concession it took to get him in the organization, and it’s an extra day a week off compared to what other instructional leaguers get.

“I’m excited about it”.

He signed with the Mets for a $100,000 bonus and will try to carve out a career in baseball despite an 11-year absence from the game. I’m excited about the journey, the challenge, the difficulties, all of it.
