Tim Tebow is coming to a ballpark near you

He said he began exploring a return to the sport – even working out – in 2015, when then-Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly called. After years of putting his charm, looks, and athletic background to use on television, he is returning to professional sports in NY. We understand most players don’t make it to the major leagues.

Tebow last played baseball during his junior year in high school in 2005, when he hit four homers and batted.494. One evaluator took note of Tebow’s weak arm but said the results were better when Tebow chased down balls on the run and came up throwing without obsessing over his mechanics.

Alderson: “Everyone will point to reasons why (Tebow) can’t make it”. He’s part of the Mets organization. “There wasn’t a season that went by that it wasn’t something that I thought about”.

“Alderson: “(Tebow) is going to be a role model in our system, and an opportunity for us to associate with excellence. However, as someone who seems to be bigger than just his athlete persona, it’s probably not the end of his adventures in trying to play pro sports again. “I think that is underscored by his competitiveness and his determination to succeed and improve”. Adding Tebow to that mix, obviously, will give some Mets farmhands a heck of a lot of experience dealing with media hordes long before they reach the Majors.

The instructional league runs from September 18 to October 8.

So, why baseball and why now?

There’s likely more to it than that, too: Tebow shares an agent with Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, and Cespedes can opt out of his three-year deal with the club after this season.

But even if it’s hard to doubt why Tebow says he is doing this – returning to the game he loves for one last chance at athletic glory, allowing himself to go forward in life unburdened by the weight of what-if – it is just as fair to doubt the wisdom of his choice. Tebow said his definition of success “is giving everything I have”. After all, Tebow knows what he’s talking about as arguably the greatest college football player of all time. Punk does not speak of winning the welterweight title from Tyron Woodley and Tebow isn’t telling the world that he is an All-Star in the making.

It has been said by Sandy Alderson that Tebow, who works as a commentator for ESPN during SEC college football games, would miss a few days of the Instructional League due to his arrangement with ESPN. “When I felt like I had this opportunity, I wanted to take it and pursue it with everything I had”.
