Tim Tebow pursuing career in professional baseball

On Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that baseball’s newest intriguing prospect is the Tim Tebow, former professional quarterback.

For the past year, the former quarterback-turned-ESPN broadcaster has been training in Arizona and Los Angeles to improve his hitting and fielding skills, as he has not played baseball full-time since his high school days. For a sneak preview of said showcase, please give measured consideration to Tebow taking some hacks in the cage.

So, how will that go?

“This may sound like a publicity stunt, but nothing could be further from the truth”, said Wagenen, in a statement through Tebow’s agent.

But trading in football for baseball may not be as much of a surprise, afterall.

Tebow, who turns 29 on Sunday, was a former all-state prep school baseball player in Florida. “He has arm strength, he could run, he could hit, he could hit for power, he could field, but his character made him that six-tool guy”. NBA legend Michael Jordan came to Birmingham for one season in 1994 after deciding to take a hiatus from Basketball.

As CBS Sports points out, even if a team picked up Tebow, it would likely start him in the minor leagues.

He’s already received a contract offer from the Schaumburg Boomers, an independent Frontier League team based in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Tebow is being represented by Brodie Van Wagenen, who also is the agent for Ryan Zimmerman and the New York Mets’ Yoenis Cespedes.
