Tim Tebow signs minor-league deal with Mets
Tebow is set to report to the organization’s Instructional League in Port St. Lucie on September 18, and train in Florida for three weeks before the team decides whether to send him to the Arizona Fall League, a winter league or get the former Florida quarterback personal tutoring in preparation for spring training, according to Blum. The former quarterback, an aspiring outfielder, will take part in the Instructional League in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Sandy Alderson told ESPN that they are aware of the novel nature of the situation, but Tebow has demonstrated over his career that he is tremendous athlete and this is a classic player-development opportunity.

Tebow spent the 2013 preseason with the Patriots and 2015 preseason with the Eagles.
Brewers 12, Cardinals 5: Milwaukee hit three homers in a rout of St. Louis that enabled the idle Mets (74-66) to overtake the Cardinals (73-66) in the race for the second NL wild-card spot. He played two seasons of baseball at Nease High School in Florida before choosing football over baseball.
“I know this is a tough game”, Tebow said after reportedly receiving a $100,000 signing bonus from his new team. Tebow is 29 years old, much older than the typical baseball prospect.
After Tim Tebow’s showcase for Major League Baseball teams last week, reviews of his performance were decidedly mixed. But some further insight has come regarding why Tebow chose the Mets over any other team. The former Heisman Trophy victor from the University of Florida is a regular contributor to those networks’ college football coverage.
“I love the idea that’s he’s coming to instructional league because really that’s where all of your minor league instructors and some of your major league coaches are”, Rodgers said. “Then again, I don’t have to listen to what everybody else says”. “I think he’s got a good gig right now [as a broadcaster] with the SEC Network and I’m sure he could do a daily talk show if he wanted”. It was only a few years ago, after all, that “Tebowing” was common football parlance.
“In terms of power, in terms of arm, in terms of foot speed, all of those things, we think he can be a baseball player”, Alderson noted. So an apparent life-long dream could end very quickly, based on nothing more than Tebow’s lack of high-level baseball skill. “I just get to go pursue my passion”.
