Tim Tebow wears No. 15 at Mets instructional league

– Tim Tebow arrived at the New York Mets’ minor league clubhouse Monday morning, finding an orange-and-blue jersey with No. 15 on the back swaying in his locker. “It was just fun”. He worked out for scouts last month, and the Mets signed him to a deal that included a $100,000 bonus.

A similar t-shirt, made to look like a jersey with name and number on the back, was second only to the Chicago Cubs National League Central champions t-shirt in MLB.com sales.

And now that the jerseys are available online, Tebow mania is spreading, as only jerseys featuring Noah Syndergaard and custom nameplates are selling more.

Tebow drew a crowd, as expected.

Fortunately, Tebow remembered everything he needed but he did need to chase down a belt before walking out of the Mets minor league facility and onto the field where the media was waiting.

A member of the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship team, Teixeira led the league that year with 122 RBI and tied for the league lead with 39 home runs.

“I felt like such a kid”, Tebow said afterward, beaming, as he spoke with reporters. “I didn’t pay attention”.

A former below-average professional football player who has not played organized baseball since he was a junior in high school, Tebow, who turned 29 in August, took the field with 57 other aspiring players in the Mets organization who are much younger. This was just something that I had to do because I gave my word to my SEC family. Because people at the circus love souvenirs, right? “Hopefully if you make the right steps and preparation, and you’re blessed with the right opportunities, and the right talent, then one day that can meet some day, and hopefully that would be in the big leagues”. “I don’t have to live with regret”.

The 2007 Heisman Trophy victor and former NFL quarterback got to the New York Mets’ complex early Monday, and his first workout as part of their instructional league team began later in the morning.

He said if the Patriots — who are without Tom Brady for two more games and now have Jimmy Garoppolo dealing with an injury — or any other football team came calling, now theyd get a quick answer.

Indeed, Tebow struggled to play catch on Monday as well. However, Tebow signed a bridge agreement with the official jersey supplier Majestic Athletic last week, which allows the company to merchandise him before he makes the majors.

According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the Mets’ no. 15 Tebow jersey was the best seller on Major League Baseball’s online shop.
