Timberwolves: Kris Dunn scores 27 points in NBA Summer League debut
The Minnesota Timberwolves opened their Summer League slate on Friday, and top draft pick Kris Dunn was front and center. The Minnesota Timberwolves lost 88-82 to the Denver Nuggets, but Dunn – the No. 5 overall pick in this year’s draft – showed he can create his own shot and add some much-needed defense to the Wolves backcourt.

In his final season at Providence, Dunn averaged 16.4 points and 5.8 assists per game while leading the Friars to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997.
In summer league games, players are allowed 10 personal fouls before they are disqualified. Last year, he was found not guilty in an IL court of charges that he sexually abused a masseuse. He also made 1 of 2 3-pointers.

Dunn has been named the Big East Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year in each of the past two seasons. He’s the only player in Providence history to have career totals of 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, 500 assists and 200 steals. The team may be waiting for Aldrich to return from his vacation in Italy.
