Time will tell if Apple Watch catches on, as Apple fans wait
But Apple seems to be acting like Noah and preparing for a 40-day flood. Apple might encounter some headwinds as it experiments with newer technologies and products, but its ever-growing cell phone business and solid financials would continue to create value for investors in the long term. (Source: Apple, July 21, 2015.). Yet iPhone average selling prices were surprisingly flat, which we view as a great sign for iPhone product mix as Chinese customers aren’t exclusively buying the older, cheaper models.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and GoPro Inc (NASDAQ:GPRO) reported their respective June quarter results on Wednesday.
Mr. Arcuri says that though services and other segments are growing, “iPhone units remain the key driver for the stock”. For instance, analysts at Cowen recently downgraded AAPL stock to “market perform” to “outperform” on China fears, including “evidence of a widespread demand reset from China is mounting” across everything from autos to smartphones to home goods. Cook also said that millions of people are listening to the apps Beats 1 radio station.
Apple is famous for telling us what we need before we need them, Clayton said.
By posting revenues of $49.6 billion and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.85 for the quarter, Apple yet again surpassed consensus estimates for revenue ($49.4 billion) and EPS ($1.81 per share).
(ShareCast News) – Shares in Apple tumbled over 5% in early trading in New York on Wednesday, after the iPhone maker’s revenue outlook for the quarter fell short of expectations. This year’s update (likely to arrive in September) is expected to be a minor update (like an iPhone 6S), as opposed to the radical change of the bigger screens that spurred this quarter’s sales.
The iPhone 6 is responsible for nearly all of that growth, of course.
Total iPhone sales rose 35 percent to 47.5 million.
“The investors may have gotten a little ahead of themselves”, Forrester analyst Frank Gillett said of Apple profit soaring but shares dipping. The iPhone is so huge that it accounts for more than 60 percent of the revenue of the biggest company on the planet. “This downward trend shows that Samsung’s share of profitable premium smartphone users has come under significant pressure”, explained Gupta at the time. Its other efforts in hardware, with the Surface tablet line, haven’t taken off either: despite revenues of $888m (and unknown, if any, profits), the Surface hasn’t ignited interest. Apple sold 10.1m iPads during the period, down 18 percent on sales in the same three months of previous year. At first, iPhone apps were dumbed-down versions of websites. Growth is from the iPhone, and growth in the iPhone is from China.
“We are convinced the watch is going to be one of the top gifts of the holiday season”, Cook said, while fielding questions from analysts on the earnings call. That would make Apple the largest and most valuable seller of wearables in the world from a standing start in a single quarter – but shouldn’t it have sold more, at higher prices?

The report claims that the Apple Watch shipments are certainly higher compared to the 0.4 million units of Samsung smartwatches.
