Times, channels, how to watch the summer games live online
For those of you at home, there are many ways to watch the games both on television and online.

The USA is the all-time medals leader in the Summer Olympics with 2,404. But as the costs of Olympic rights rose, NBC started borrowing its cable channels to make more room for events it has already paid for.
The opening ceremony will be delayed an hour before being shown on NBC because the network wants the entertainment spectacle, which was seen by 40.7 million people in 2012, to be shown completely in US prime time. However, a Sling TV account does not gain you access to the NBC Sports app. NBC Olympics executive producer Jim Bell described the foray into virtual reality as experimental.
Primetime coverage will be hosted by Bob Costas; Ryan Seacrest will host late night programming. Other sports covered include track and field, boxing, fencing, field hockey, judo, open water swimming, rugby, synchronized swimming, table tennis, wrestling and others. The 2012 London Olympics were watched by 217 million Americans across the networks of NBCUniversal, making it the most-watched event in US television history.
In addition to the Olympics-facing relationship, Yahoo and NBC Sports are now in the fourth year of a digital deal that widens NBC’s distribution. The women’s singles final is August 13 and the men’s singles final is August 14.
Still, NBC is just making it more confusing to not air things in real time, and it’s irresponsible to redirect public frustration over their decision to women as a whole. That’s 356 hours of Olympic stuff per day spread over multiple NBC-owned channels.
Do I have to wait until 11 p.m.to watch 9NEWS?
Events: Heats for men’s 100-meter backstroke, women’s 100-meter backstroke, men’s 200-meter freestyle, women’s 400-meter freestyle and men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay (12 p.m.). It will air from 9 a.m. ET to 5 p.m. ET each day. It’s safer for viewers at home, but for those without cable, it’s also a marathon of ingenuity and clever thinking to even watch it.
NBCUniversal’s networks and digital platforms will be showing almost 7,000 hours of programing over 19 days during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. More than 82 million unique visitors watched 149.3 million total streams of those Games.
Much of this requires having a cable or satellite TV subscription, though as an alternative, you can sign up for Sony’s PlayStation Vue service for $30 or $40 a month to get extensive access to NBC’s app and website.
The Golf Channel, for example, concentrates on the Olympic return of its namesake sport.
