Two very different smartphone apps-Tinder and Spotify-have chose to work together to help you find a date who shares your musical taste.

With or without a SPOTIFY account, TINDER users can play previews of other people’s top songs right from their profiles. Tinder’s algorithm will choose 10 of Spotify’s top artists to display on a profile at a time, including any artists you and a potential match have both selected. The feature is available starting today in the 59 countries where Spotify is available.

Back in June, when Tinder competitor Bumble added Spotify integration, I cheered and begged that every dating service add something similar. Even if users looking at your profile have never heard the song you’ve chosen, they can still draw their own conclusions, because they’ll be able to stream it live from your profile.

Spotify and Tinder have now partnered up to give the modern mating a new background soundtrack.

Daniel Ek, CEO and Founder of Spotify, speaks at a media event announcing updates to the music streaming application Spotify.

It’s an interesting addition to Tinder’s bag of tricks, because music is something that people often bond over.

“You socialize around the music you love”.

The added features are part of a larger partnership between Tinder and Spotify.

Tinder prides itself on helping its users meet new people “for all kinds of reasons”.

Much of that growth comes from the use of mobile applications like Tinder, which has gained a reputation as a “hookup” app.

Tinder, that tried-and-trusted bastion of awkwardness and discomfort, is getting all the more personal. “That one song you can’t get out of your head”, according to Spotify.
