Tinder is reinstating co-founder Sean Rad as chief executive, five months after the matchmaking company replaced him with current CEO Chris Payne. “I think Tinder’s going to be an incredible company”.

Tinder’s board members have evidently been doing some soul-searching lately, and announced today (Aug. 13) that current CEO Christopher Payne is stepping down. When Payne was hired, Rad stayed on in a president role, though he said he “strongly disagreed” with the demotion.

“It’s only been a few months, but everyone came to the realisation, the board and Christopher, and all agreed it wouldn’t work out long-term”, Cohler said.

Rad said he wants to continue to grow Tinder’s user base and turn it into “one of the great businesses of our time”.

“I enjoyed my time at Tinder but we mutually determined that this wasn’t going to be optimal and thought that a quick transition served everybody best”, adds Payne.

As part of the leadership shuffle, Greg Blatt, chairman of The Match Group, will assume the newly created position of executive chairman of Tinder. Tinder expanded globally and is now available in 196 countries across the world, allowing people to connect with others and meet new people through the app’s famous right-swipe. However, insiders told Forbes at the time of Rad’s original departure that Tinder’s recent sexual-harassment lawsuit was also to blame for Rad’s leaving the company.
