Tired of Brady and the Patriots winning?

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady told reporters at Super Bowl Opening Night that he doesn’t want the radio host who criticized his daughter fired. When they’re in their nickel package, Malcolm Jenkins will likely see a lot of Gronkowski in man coverage. “The players are going to run what the coaches call”.

We then fast forward to last offseason when Brady and Jack visited Beijing, China. Such was my surprise when I approached him on Tuesday and found him discussing Sunday’s meeting with the Eagles in terms of his personal connection to Rocky.

But with his first game-winning drive in the fourth quarter against the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI, Brady and the Patriots began to write a new chapter in Super Bowl history, one defined by edge-of-your seat excitement. Reimer said, “All right, I thought the first scene was so staged, where Brady’s like in the kitchen, this kid’s being an annoying little pissant”. That was pretty tough to do.

The Patriots are comfortable when that happens. Those two missed opportunities against the Giants still haunt Brady, one of those guys who remembers more about the devastating losses than the career-defining wins.

Not that it is by design.

– The Patriots, led by veterans like quarterback Tom Brady and linebacker James Harrison, have played-and won-big games before.

However, speaking on Wednesday, Brady – whose contract expires in 2019 – asked: “Why does everyone want me to retire so bad? Obviously, I was glad to come here, but just being traded like that, I literally couldn’t explain my emotions”.

The 40-year-old quarterback could win an extraordinary sixth Super Bowl ring in Minneapolis on Sunday at an age when most National Football League players are already comfortably settling into a life beyond the sport. They know that if they come out in “heavy” personnel groupings with multiple backs and/or tight ends, the defense will counter with base personnel.

9,721 – Another record held by Brady in the postseason is the amount of passing yards he has completed. You can get creative with how you deploy them, and that’s exactly how the Patriots operate. It’s nearly as if he’s come upon the realization that maybe he really is the “Greatest Of All Time”, and he wants to revel in it.

Earlier this week, Brady cut short his weekly paid appearance on WEEI’s morning show after politely expressing his displeasure over comments made last week by a part-time host, Alex Reimer, that painted Brady’s five-year-old daughter, Vivian, in a negative light. “He’s going to pick zone apart all day, every day”.
