According to the Google Santa tracker, Santa is now over the Solomon Islands to the east of Papua New Guinea, 14,900 kms from Ireland – and moving fast.

Yes, Santa Claus may fly at the speed of light on Christmas Eve, but the world’s kids still want to know exactly where he is.
Peek behind the scenes at the military’s Santa-tracking operation at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. with USA TODAY reporter Trevor Hughes. But on Christmas Eve, Santa returns to the North Pole to begin his world-wide journey to bring happiness and joy to children everywhere. More than 1,200 volunteers man a command center each year to field all the calls and emails.
In the meantime, children of all ages can prepare for the annual flight of jolly old St. Nick on the NORAD Tracks Santa official site.
You better watch out!
“The children always ask if they’re on the naughty list, but one of the unique statements they’ve said is that ‘I’m waiting for Santa to come through the ceiling in my roof, ‘ which they meant their attic access to their room”, said Volunteer Carlenn Trunkhill. So that counts as a win for the first lady, right?
The edict was one of several by federal agencies they say are created to ease the movement of Santa Claus as he makes his global trek to deliver presents to good boys and girls. A boy named Peyton said he would probably need some help with that.
Mrs. Obama fielded calls from Hawaii to surprised children calling in to the NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center.

Then at 4 a.m. MST (6 a.m. EST), trackers worldwide can speak with a live phone operator to inquire as to Santa’s whereabouts by dialing the toll-free number 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723) or by sending an email. Each volunteer handles about forty telephone calls per hour, and the team typically handles more than 12,000 e-mails and more than 70,000 telephone calls from more than two hundred countries and territories. The tradition continued for the next 60 years.
