Titans blown out by Jets 30-8

The Jets might have had a shot at drafting Mariota at No. 1 or No. 2 overall, if not for two wins in the last four games of Rex Ryan’s tenure with the Jets. We’re trying to play stingy defense and we’re trying to win. Walker said they just didn’t come ready to play. “We’re constantly working at it, still working at it. But it’s been good that they’ve grown together”. They played a good game, a solid game and didn’t make a lot of mistakes. It was Fitzpatrick’s career-high 25th TD pass of the season and Marshall’s 11th receiving score, the most by a Jets WR since Wesley Walker in 1986. Mariota was sacked five times, including three times by DE Muhammad Wilkerson, and hit two more times. The Titans and Mariota now take to the road to take on the 7-5 New York Jets, a team very much in the AFC Playoff hunt. “When we did it game speed, it worked”. Marshall leads the team with 10 touchdown receptions this season and six of them have come in the last five games.

When Fitzpatrick gets knocked down, he begins to feel the pocket collapsing around him and has a tendency to make bad throws. “I played receiver growing up, and had experience in high school as a receiver. I was pretty comfortable”. Mariota was 21-of-39 for 274 yards and an interception Sunday. Interim head coach Mike Mularkey isn’t likely to get consideration for the full-time gig, and NFL Network reported Sunday morning that general manager Ruston Webster could be fired after another disastrous season. “The first half was a good example of if you play poorly in all three phases you’re going to have a hard time against a good football team, let alone anyone in this league”.

His transition from backup appears seamless, but Bowles said it’s been anything but smooth. Receiver Jeremy Kerley also left with an injured calf.

It was important for the Jets to start quickly, and that is exactly what they did.

Some of the biggest gains have been in the communication between Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall. Searcy later left with a hamstring injury.

Giveaways – Fitzpatrick’s lost just one fumble all year, at New England, and those INTs that were a topic of discussion less than a month ago coming out of Houston are now forgotten as he’s gone three games and 123 passes without a pick.

“There was no communication to upstairs or the linebackers”, Mularkey said. “Not an excuse. That doesn’t give us any reason to not cover an uncovered receiver”.

-SPECIAL TEAMS: A-minus. K Randy Bullock’s ideal run ended when he missed a 53-yard field goal in the first quarter, but he nailed his other three field-goal attempts and was 3-for-3 on PATs. Smith was a gunner on the Jets’ first punt of the day when he was leveled by Titans defensive back Marqueston Huff. The play might not have resulted in anything if S Calvin Pryor hadn’t slipped racing over to cover Mariota. CB Buster Skrine blanketed TE Delanie Walker (seven catches for 71 yards), who is Mariota’s lone reliable weapon. Mariota then threw a two-point conversion to running back Dexter McCluster.

“This is what we wanted”, said cornerback Darrelle Revis, who returned after missing two games because of a concussion.

Details for Sunday’s game are below.

But, man, the Jets sure looked good out there with an impressive 30-8 win. During the Jets’ winning streak, he has passed to Marshall 27 times and Decker 20 times. Little did anyone know that Fitzpatrick would end up putting up one of the best seasons by a Jets quarterback.
