Titans QB Marcus Mariota Out For Season
The Patriots (12-2) finished a 7-1 home season and are sure of earning the top seed. Multiple media outlets also reported Tuesday that Mariota was out for the season.

New England’s Dont’a Hightower (knee), receiver Danny Amendola (knee) and safety Patrick Chung (hip) all left the game with injuries and did not return. “No way”, Mularkey said. “I would listen to where it’s coming from”.
-With Marcus Mariota definitely out this week, the Titans will turn to backup Zach Mettenberger, who will start for the ninth time in his young National Football League career.
Mariota has 2,818 yards passing, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Walker broke the Titans’ franchise record for receiving yards by a tight end (935 yards) and catches by a tight end (76 catches). When you get one-on-one in the open field, as a skill player, you have to make that guy miss. “I’m glad we did it”. Having injuries shorten his season to just 12 games won’t help his case, especially in such a stacked race.
-RUN DEFENSE: C. Somebody named Joey Iosefa, fresh off the practice squad, had 51 yards on 14 carries for the Patriots against the Titans.
In the second half, Brady threw 16 passes, and eight of them were directed towards tight end Rob Gronkowski.
“He will be out this week and evaluated again at the start of next week to see where he’s at”, Mularkey said.
After Sunday’s game, Mariota said his knee got twisted up underneath him on a sack by linebacker Jamie Collins.
He stood on the sideline wearing his helmet, did not return to the game. “I’d rather err on the side of caution”. Brady’s pass to James White in the flat turned into a 30-yard touchdown, as White weaved his way into the end zone after catching the ball on the 33 yard-line. “I wanted to go in (to the locker room) right away”. White only saw one target for the rest of the game, and it was called back by a bogus offensive pass interference penalty (and Brady agrees with this reasoning).
Mularkey said Andrews has been “by far” the most consistent running back in protection on third downs this season.
The right knee of the Titans’ Marcus Mariota bends as he’s hit by…
“He’s experienced a lot for a rookie. If there was any way he was not going to be capable of playing, no way”. “I know he was up there watching”, Gronkowski said. He was here past year and learned a lot. “We’ve dealt with that quite a bit over the last month, it’s a little bit challenging over the course of a game to deal when guys are going out, but we still found a way to win, so ultimately that’s the most important thing”.
But another appearance this season is far from a given.

Coach Bill O’Brien said he didn’t expect Yates to play next week and didn’t provide a specific update on the injury.
