The TiVo Bolt+ was revealed by TiVo on Monday and includes six tuners, 3 TB of recording capacity, 4K capabilities and a new black chassis. The Bolt+ seems as if it stands a good chance of carrying on that tradition, keeping the 4K resolution of the original, but upping the tuner count to six, compared to the four found in the original model, and boasting 3TB of built-in storage. These features were also included in the BOLT DVR which was launched previous year. It’s called the BOLT+ and it happens to support 4K UHD content just like the 4K Bolt DVR which was launched by TiVo in the fall a year ago. Now viewers can record a lot more footage and actually have the room to store it; TiVo says the Bolt+ can hold 450 hours of HD content. “The 4K TiVo BOLT+ is the all-in-one video system people have been waiting for”, said Ira Bahr, general manager of TiVo retail products.

TiVo also made a point to mention that its device can be used as a Plex client – something that could appeal also to the cord cutting community, who often use the media server software Plex to watch content from their own home libraries.

“The new Bolt+ also supports recently introduced features such as “SkipMode”, which lets users skip commercial breaks in most recorded shows on select channels, including those from the Big 4 broadcasters, and “QuickMode”, which enables users to watch recordings 30% faster with “pitch-corrected” audio”.

– OnePass™: Consolidate all episodes of favorite shows via cable, and internet video services such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Video, 2 creating a universal watchlist across all providers.

– Remote Access: Watch live TV and recorded shows from a tablet or smartphone anywhere in the home, as well as download or stream shows to watch out of the home and on the go.
