Intensely private An intensely private person, Prince sold more than 100 million records. In 2000, when the singer’s publishing contract with the company expired, he reclaimed the name Prince.
Scottish singer Sheena Easton, who cast aside her squeaky clean image to feature on his song U Got The Look, and was a rumoured romantic interest, said: “It is impossible to imagine him not being here”.
Though his public profile was lower than in previous decades, Prince remained prolific in the last few years of his life.

Katy Perry said the world had lost “a lot of magic” following Prince’s death, while Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, described the musician as “one of my favs and a true pioneering artist”. It featured one of his biggest hits, Kiss.

On Friday, Prince’s private plane made an emergency landing in IL so he could be rushed to hospital because of his flu symptoms, but was released three hours later and made an appearance at a party at Paisley Park the next day, telling fans to “wait a few days before you waste any prayers”.
