“Thanks to an anonymous donor, tmrw my Dad will enter an unimaginable milestone w/ his 3rd bone marrow/stem cell transplant in a 3year span”, the younger Sager wrote.

“OK, third time’s the charm”, Sager said moments after the process began.

Sideline reporter and legend Craig Sager has been battling leukemia for three summers now.

This time, the popular sideline reporter had an anonymous benefactor, one the Associated Press described as a 20-year-old who “was considered a ideal match”. The procedure was expected to take some 10 hours.

“It’s less than 1 percent of the total number of transplants”, Qazilbash told The Associated Press. Third transplants are kind of rare, so hopefully we will get it done and I’ll be ready in time for [NBA] opening night.

Sager, 65, is a 34-year Turner veteran and popular TNT sideline reporter who is known for his flashy suits and his engaging on-court interviews with players.

In a report by John Healy for the New York Daily News, Sage was supposed to be part of the NBC broadcast team covering the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but had to opt out of the said trip to put his sole focus on undergoing treatment.
